Mayor’s greetings

Dear Sárvárians and Visitors,

I feel the honour to great the citizens of our town as well as those dear domestic and foreign guests who have visited or will visit our town. On behalf of the inhabitants of a prosperous and hospitable town, let me show you around in virtual space, to make you familiar with our built cultural heritage, the natural endowments, historical traditions and the thermal water which facilitate the recreation, relaxation and healing of hundreds of thousands of visitors year by year.

Many times has Sárvár been in the focus of interest and events amidst the stormy history. This applies especially to the 16th and 17th centuries that have created the opportunities for the Nádasdy Family for soaring, as well as the facilities for its economic, political, and culture preserving activities for one and a half centuries. The scene of their work, the Nádasdy Castle is still the symbol of our town. János Sylvester, scientist, found supporters here, and became famous throughout Europe, just like Sebestyén Tinódi Lantos, the chronicler, Gáspár Szegedi Körös, the medical man or Mátyás Dévai Bíró, the illustrious preacher.

The turning point of our modern history was 1968, when the settlement was inaugurated to become a town. This facilitated the urbanisation of our settlement. The two recent decades gave new impetus to the development of Sárvár, which held out promises to the achievement of the new middle-class status. The talent, diligence and persistent work of Sárvárian citizens, as well as their affection towards their town led to the birth of a new Sárvár, which is today one of the most frequented places in Hungary by those tourists seeking recreation in spa and wellness resorts.

I warmly invite you to our traditional summer programs namely the festivals that have proven their ground for existence for a long time and have attracted tens of thousands of visitors to Sárvár year after year. These notable festivals do not merely offer a pleasant leisure activity but they establish special occasions for coming together and making friends.

I warmly greet every citizen of Sárvár and encourage you to be hospitable hosts and to love, protect and prevent our beloved town. I encourage you to become familiar with the values that we possess, let us cherish our traditions and enhance the good reputation of our town. Consequently we can state together:
It is good to be a Sárvárian!

I invite and expect those who are interested and encourage you to be our guest and have pleasant time either for some hours or for some days in our spas and thermal baths amidst a special atmosphere which you will find in our town exclusively. Following the days you have spent in Sárvár we hope you will become our volunteer missionaries and offer our town as a place worth visiting to others warm heartedly:
It is good to be in Sárvár!
